About
My name is Sara Franks-Allen and my parents tell me I’ve loved animation since I first saw Disney’s Cinderella, even though they say I cried when the pumpkin was smashed. I started drawing at a young age as well and eventually combined my two interests by teaching yself to draw some of my favorite animated characters from film and television. I pursued my passion for animation in college and graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a bachelor’s degree in 2D animation. After college, I developed an interest in film critique and discussion, particularly once i discovered Todd Alcott’s fantastic blog What Does The Protagonist Want?.
The Ink and Pixel Club was born from all of the interests, as well as a desire to connect with other animation fans. It’s a way for me to share what I’ve know and love, point out other great sites and sources of information, and talk with people who love this wonderful medium as much as I do.
When I’m not writing for the blog, watching animation for the blog, doing research for the blog, or otherwise working on the blog, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our dog, and our two house rabbits at our home in Massachusetts. I like reading comics, listening to podcasts, and playing video games. The rest of my time is spent trying to keep my husband’s action figure collection from taking over the house.
